When to choose MyFitnessPal over Renzy
MyFitnessPal has two strong points: a database of more than 20.5 million foods, restaurant dishes included, and more than 40 connections with fitness trackers, smartwatches and health apps, according to its App Store listing. If the way you log is looking up specific products, and you have years of history there, switching has a real cost. Note that barcode scanning and meal scan are part of its Premium plan. If that is what holds your routine together, it is a legitimate reason to stay.
The verdict
Both apps count calories; the difference is how you arrive at the number. MyFitnessPal starts from a huge database and keeps meal scan and barcode scanning for Premium. Renzy starts from a photo: the AI estimates what is on the plate and how much, which is exactly the hard part when you eat out or cook at home. Add that there are no ads here at any tier (in MyFitnessPal, ad-free logging is Premium) and that you can also sign in from a browser. If you look up packaged products in a huge database and have years of history there, MFP. If you eat cooked meals and want the photo to be the way in, Renzy.
FAQ
Is Renzy a good MyFitnessPal alternative?
It depends on how you eat. If your day is packaged products with barcodes, MFP's database is hard to beat. If it is cooked meals, leftovers and eating out, scanning a photo is considerably faster than searching for and adding up ingredients one by one.
Can I bring my MyFitnessPal history across?
Yes. Settings has an importer for the CSV MyFitnessPal exports, and it brings your MEAL log into your history. That is all it moves: weight history and saved recipes do not travel, and have to be rebuilt.
What does each one cost?
Renzy Pro is €9.99 a month (there is also a yearly plan), with a 7-day trial and no ads on any tier. MyFitnessPal's price is on its website or in your app store.
