What you should weigh for your height
Find your reference ideal weight in seconds by height and sex. We compute it with the four classic clinical formulas (Devine, Robinson, Miller and Hamwi) and also give you your WHO healthy weight range — usually the most useful part.
The "ideal weight" is a statistical reference: it ignores muscle mass and frame. A healthy range matters more than an exact number.

How is ideal weight calculated?
The classic formulas (Devine, Robinson, Miller and Hamwi) estimate a reference weight from your height and sex. None of them knows anything about your build, your muscle mass or your health — they were built decades ago for drug dosing, not for body composition. That is why this calculator shows you all four side by side instead of pretending there is one right answer: the spread between them is the honest margin. We add the WHO healthy weight range for your height, which is wider and usually more useful. Treat the result as a reference band, not a target you owe anyone.
Healthy weight for your height
The range comes from applying the healthy BMI band (18.5 to 24.9) to your height. Two warnings almost nobody gives: there is no single "ideal weight" but a range spanning more than 15 kg; and it does not change with age or sex, because BMI does not distinguish them. What does change with age is body composition, and waist circumference measures that better.
| Height | Healthy range | Midpoint |
|---|---|---|
| 1.55 m | 44 – 59 kg | 52 kg |
| 1.60 m | 47 – 63 kg | 55 kg |
| 1.65 m | 50 – 67 kg | 59 kg |
| 1.70 m | 53 – 71 kg | 62 kg |
| 1.75 m | 57 – 76 kg | 66 kg |
| 1.80 m | 60 – 80 kg | 70 kg |
| 1.85 m | 63 – 85 kg | 74 kg |
| 1.90 m | 67 – 89 kg | 78 kg |
Computed as BMI 18.5 to 24.9 times height squared, using the WHO classification. These are reference ranges for healthy adults, not a diagnosis or individual advice.
FAQ
What is my ideal weight for my height?
It depends on your sex and build too. As a reference, a 1.75 m man lands around 68-75 kg across the four formulas, and a 1.65 m woman around 55-62 kg. The range matters more than any single figure inside it.
Is ideal weight the same as a healthy weight?
Not quite. "Ideal weight" is a statistical number from a formula; a healthy weight is a range where your health markers, energy and relationship with food all work. The WHO range shown underneath is the better guide of the two.
Why does my ideal weight look low if I train?
Because the formulas cannot tell muscle from fat. If you carry a decent amount of muscle you will sit above your "ideal" weight while being leaner and healthier than someone at it. Use body fat percentage or waist measurements instead.
How long does it take to reach it?
At a healthy pace of about 0.5 kg a week, divide the difference by 0.5 to get the weeks. Ten kilos is roughly five months — and that estimate assumes you recalculate as you go, because the rate slows as you get lighter.
